Jonathan Pooley Death – Apex Friendship High School Student Has Died; Apex Friendship High School student identified as 18-year-old Jonathan Pooley was involved in a single-vehicle accident that claimed his life and injured 4 others. The crash occurred in the 1300 block of Morrisville Parkway near Duck Pond Circle, in front of the Aquatics Center at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday, morning.
According to the police, a 2015 Honda Civic traveling on Morrisville Parkway and was going at 80 mph in the 35 mph speed-limit zone when it suddenly lost control. This made the vehicle navigate through the median and then flipped multiple times destroying the Aquatics Center’s sign in the process and before coming to a rest.
The driver was identified as a 17-year-old female was said to be in a stable condition as at Sunday morning. Jonathan Pooley and an 18-year-old male were ejected from the vehicle. Pooley sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the other, an 18-year-old male passenger was said to be in critical condition.
The other two teenagers in the car sustained what was said to be “significant” injuries, one of them went partially through the windshield.
Police said the 17-year-old driver was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt. Authorities believed speed to be a contributing factor in the crash, alcohol was also suspected as well.
The crash remains active investigations
