Brian Lewis, 49, was riding his motorcycle west on Route 30, when he struck an SUV that was in the roadway from a previous crash, Atlantic City Police Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Police were first called at 2:02 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash at milepost 55.2, Fair said.
A Pleasantville resident’s had their Volkswagon Jetta parked on the shoulder of the road with hazard lights on when a Kia Sportage driven by an Egg Harbor Township resident left the road for an unknown reason and struck the Vokswagon, according to an investigation by Officer Joseph Bereheiko.
The Kia came to rest in the right lane of the road, Fair said. Lewis drove up soon after and struck the side of the Kia, according to the report. The force of the crash caused the Kia to flip onto its side.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, breakingac reported.
Bereheiko and Officer Eric Wessler are investigating, with help from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collisions Unit.
