Darwin George Emerson Obituary – Darwin George Emerson, 58, of Des Moines, Iowa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 6, 2022.
He was born to Gordon William and Mary Margaret Emerson on October 22, 1963. Darwin was preceded in death by his father Gordon, mother Mary, sister Pam Winstrom and daughter Geneva. He lived in sweet city, Iowa, and graduated from North Kossuth high school in the sweet city. He then moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1981 where he met Joanne Jones. Darwin & JJ were married on July 15, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa at the old Kingsway Cathedral church on 19th and Crocker.
Left to carry on And cherish his memory or his loving and devoted wife JJ Emerson, brothers David (Lori) Emerson, Douglas William Emerson, Dwight (Beth) Emerson, and a niece and many nephews.
Darwin & JJ shared 38 years of marriage together and shared many wonderful memories together. They were best friends and enjoyed vacationing, zip-lining, bungee jumping, parasailing and so much more.
Darwin was employed by the first church of the open Bible in Des Moines and the Ramsey home also in Des Moines. He was a hard-working employee and worked both jobs for 37 years. Darwin had to retire because of his health and that is when JJ became his full-time caregiver while still working full-time. Darwin mentioned many times how grateful he was for JJ’s caregiving. Despite his suffering, Darwin did not waver when it came to his faith. He maintained a fighting spirit and fully trusted God for complete healing. Darwin didn’t know why bad things happened but his favorite verse showed us how important his faith was to him. ” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
So it’s not goodbye Darwin but instead, it is “we will see you in heaven.” A memorial service will be held at First Church of the Open Bible, 2200 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa starting at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 15, 2022. His family is asked to gather at 12:30 pm for prayer. Condolences may be left at First Church of the Open Bible 2200 Beaver Ave., Des Moines, IA 50310, or at IlesCares.com.
