The Diocese of Erie is sad to announce the unexpected death of Father Michael Allison, pastor of Church of the Beloved Disciple Parish in Grove City. He was well-known and loved for his efforts in both parish work and with several secondary schools. His obituary will be published soon, but until then, we quote from the article in Faithful Servants published upon the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood:
“Throughout his priesthood, he has been invigorated by the faith of his parish communities.
‘I am continually inspired by God’s holy people as they manage daily the business of living,’ he said. ‘They have far more challenges presented to them than I, and witnessing their joys and hopes, griefs and anxieties is a constant sign to me of the presence of God.’”

The news of Michael P Allison passing away hit a little differently than I ever could’ve expected. It made me reflect… a lot. On 9/9/2007 I was merely a 16 year old girl who just experienced losing a friend, a mentor, and a role model for the first time. When Anne passed away I wasn’t sure how to process my thoughts let alone emotions. How could someone I grew to know and played basketball with just one year prior, suddenly be gone? Father Allison always had the right words to say, and when he didn’t, he had an open door policy that myself and many others took him up on. We went on the Baltimore mission trip, which was dedicated to Anne, and he helped me learn so much about myself and how to focus on having a good heart. The picture with me in a green polo shows my bloodshot eyes from bawling my eyes out. Father Allison found a way for all of us to be open and vulnerable with every person in the room with us that day. He truly knew how to make you find the good in every situation and he was never afraid to crack a joke. R.I.P Father Mike, give Anne a hug for me ❤️
