Father Peter Weiss Death – The St. Augustine High School Community is devastated by the news of the passing of The Very Reverend Peter C. Weiss, S.S.J. A 30-year teacher at St. Augustine High School, Fr. Weiss served as a Theology Teacher, Director of Color Guard for the Marching 100, and was the Chief Religious Officer up until his untimely passing. Additionally, Fr. Weiss served as Pastor of All Saints Catholic Church in Algiers, Chaplain to the local branch of the FBI and a reserve fireman for NOFD. Fr.
Weiss took tremendous pride in maintaining St. Augustine’s catholic identity, as he was sure to keep Christ at the helm of curriculum and student life. As a Theologian, Fr. Weiss’ Theology III class became a cornerstone among coursework at St. Aug. He was adamant about growing the faith of young men at a pivotal time in their adolescence.
During his time with the Marching 100, it was Fr. Weiss who implemented sophisticated close-order military drills into the Color Guard’s repertoire; much of which is still used today. He also served as medic on sight for all of the Marching 100’s performances and appearances.
His commitment to St. Augustine, All Saints and neighboring communities have had long lasting effects. We ask that you please keep his family, the Josephites Community, the Purple Knight Community and all who love him in your prayers.
It is our collective prayer that through the Mercy of God, our beloved Fr. Weiss is now resting with God in the Kingdom of Heaven.
