Susan John Death – Susan John, who was a former Rochester assembly woman in New York, has died at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer, Rochester city newspaper said on their website. Susan reportedly died in Florida on Monday, November 22, 2021. Susan represented Rochester at the New York state assembly for 20 years and she was one of the state’s Legislature’s leading champions of rights for women and working people. At 32, Susan left her her job in the law firm that now became Phillips Lytle in 1990 to join run for the 131st Assembly District as a Democrat with the view of fighting for women’s right and working age. Denise Murphy McGraw who was Susan’s friend for more than 30 years described her as a one of a kind who was a tireless fighter for women’s rights. “Yesterday, my friend of more than 30 years died. Former Assemblymember Susan V John, who was elected the same night as my former boss and mentor Joe Morelle, was a one-of-a-kind legislator and taken away too soon. She was a tireless fighter for women’s rights, the LBGTQ+ community, children and families, and organized labor. RIP Assemblymember John.” Denise said.
