Seán Mellon Death – Seán Mellon has died on Friday morning November 19, 2021. Friends and loved ones took to social media to pay tributes to Mellon. Miceal Burns express who devastated Mellon’s death has been, Burns wrote, “Woke up this morning to the devastating news that Seán Mellon has passed away. It is so hard to believe. God knows where I would have been or been doing if it wasn’t for Seán. I was lucky enough to have Seán teaching at my school and had me playing hurling from no age.
“Reminiscing about Seán with one of the lads and I can’t believe the patience he had with us for all those years. Can’t believe he didn’t kill one of us never mind ever get angry or say a bad word out of anger. He helped us grow into men and give us a direction and a love of a great sport.
“Rest In Peace Seán and my condolences to all the Mellon family and also the Na Magha hurling family.”
Mellon was a school teacher and also a founding member of CLG Na Magha, as written on Facebook. Sean Dolans Gac also posted on Facebook to mourn the passing of Mellon, “The club would like to offer all at Na Magha and the Mellon family condolences after the passing of Seán Mellon the main man promoting hurling in Derry City and the rest of Ireland for over 50 years a true Gael and legend of the game. Ar dheis go raibh a anam.” The cause of Seán Mellon has not been released.
