Kirby Stogsdill Obituary – Kirby David Stogsdill was called home on January 5th at the age of 48. He was born to Judith (Freeman) and David Stogsdill on April 23, 1973. He was a 1991 graduate of Owen Valley High School and attended Indiana University. He married his best friend, Ronda Mason, on May 7, 1994. Their family grew in 1995 and 1997 with the birth of their two children, Mackenzie and Hunter.
He was a Certified Insurance Counselor and agent at Insurance Services. As a lifelong resident of Owen County, Kirby’s passion for his community was apparent in everything that he did. He served as President of the Bean-Blossom Patricksburg Water Board of Directors, past President of the Spencer Exchange Club, and was a member of the Owen County Fire Territory Board, and Spencer Masonic Lodge. He was an active member of the Spencer United Methodist Church for over 20 years, serving on various committees and leading youth groups.
Kirby loved spending Friday nights at Owen Valley Football games, working as a spotter with his friends in the press box eating pie and sharing laughs. A dedicated outdoorsman, he enjoyed time in the woods hunting. He treasured moments spent with his family from vacations to game nights at home. Kirby’s true gift was helping others. Whether it was coaching high school football, junior league football and baseball, or teaching Sunday School, Kirby was a mentor and always offered a helping hand wherever it was needed. Every room he walked into was brighter; everything he touched was made better; and his smile was infectious.
There was no one Kirby loved more than Ronda, his devoted wife of nearly 28 years. For over 33 years, they shared a fairytale romance as they danced through life, celebrating every moment together. He adored his children and gave them his smiley eyes and quick humor. He was their biggest fan and role model, providing endless advice and constant support.
Kirby was preceded in death by his father David L. Stogsdill, and grandparents Irma Freeman, Dorothy Hawkins, and Delmer “Buck” Hawkins.
Kirby is survived by the love of his life, Ronda; his children, Mackenzie (Ryan Hohman), and Hunter; his parents, Judy and Mike Boyd, and Donnie and Pam Campbell; his brother, Matt (Amber) Stogsdill; his “sisters”, Stacy Zehr, Stephanie (Trevor) Powell, and Angie (Ryan) Hendrix; his grandfather, Sammy Freeman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
While he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, Kirby created many memories and left lasting impressions that will be treasured and continue to have an impact for generations to come.
