Cecil Hurt Death – Cecil Hurt, a sportswriter at the Tuscaloosa News in Alabama, has reportedly died unexpectedly at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with non-CoVid related pneumonia and some underlying conditions according to his family in a tweet, Cecil was pronounced dead on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at UAB Medical Center. He was a native of Huntsville, AL and a graduate of Butler High School and The University of Alabama. He worked for The Tuscaloosa News for almost 40 years as a consummate.
He was described as thoughtful professional who was respected in the world of media and world of sports. Alabama Coach, Nick Saban described Cecil Hurt as a good friend and one of the best sport writers he he has ever had the privilege to work with. “Cecil Hurt was a good friend and one of the best sports writers I have ever had the privilege of working with, not just at Alabama, but at all of our coaching stops. He was a man of integrity and a fair-minded journalist blessed with wit, wisdom and an ability to paint a picture with his words that few have possessed.” Coach Saban said.
Cecil Hurt was loved throughout his community and state. He was described as an old-school journalist who covered the Alabama beat with class and professionalism. He was the most trusted source of news for Alabama fans everywhere and a role model for young writers. He left an amazing legacy as one of sport’s journalism’s best. Cecil Hurt obituary and funeral service has not been announced by the family yet. We await further statement from the family in that regard.
