Trevor Madrid Death – Captain Trevor Madrid, who was a retired Mesa Fire and Medical Department in Arizona has died unexpectedly at 36 after a courageous battle with occupational cancer. Las Vegas Firefighters Local 1285 confirmed in a social media post that Trevor Madrid was announced dead on Sunday, November 14th, 2021. In addition to being a Mesa firefighter before his death, Trevor was also a long time Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Explorer. Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on November 18, 2021 in honor of Trevor.

The Governor in his condolence statement said the Arizona state is saddened by the sudden loss. “Arizona is deeply saddened by the loss of Captain Trevor Madrid,” said Governor Ducey. “He put his life on the line day in and day out to protect Arizonans, and it’s devastating that his service ultimately led to his passing. We must do more to protect our first responders from life-threatening illnesses. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Captain Madrid during this challenging time.” He continued.

Mesa Fire and Medical Department wrote on their official Facebook page that Trevor Madrid was a veteran of the department for 14 years and was forced to retire due to his exposures on the job. “Captain Trevor Madrid (retired), was a 14-veteran of our Department before he was forced to retire in September of this year due to exposures he received on the job as a firefighter that led to cancer and other complications exacerbated by his condition. These complications ultimately led to what is being considered a line of duty death (LODD).” The Department said. Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, November 18, 2021,

The Department also announced on the Facebook page that a memorial service will be held in honor of Trevor Madrid on Tuesday, November 23rd, at 11 AM. “The Memorial Service for Captain Madrid is on Tuesday, November 23rd, at 11 AM. We will honor Trevor’s service, sacrifice, his family, and all who loved him. A livestream of the service will be available here (password: madrid). A funeral procession will precede the service beginning at 9 AM. You can honor Captain Madrid as the procession travels through #MesaAZ as shown on the map.” The Department said. Trevor Madrid obituary will be announced by the family.
