How did Michael Currin die?
Moeller High School has confirmed 19-year-old Michael Currin, a 2020 graduate injured in Dayton on Sunday, has died.
The Dayton Daily News is reporting Currin was involved in a hit-and-run crash Sunday morning, according to a Dayton crash report. The story said he was walking on Wayne Avenue when he was struck.
The announcement was made at Moeller Monday afternoon.
We are heartbroken. We lost a Man of Moeller today. Michael Currin was a standout here at Archbishop Moeller High School. A 2020 graduate, he was a vice-captain of the school, a member of the state-winning basketball team, the president of the National Honor Society, and a young man of amazing faith and character, winning the Man of Moeller Award at graduation. We are blessed to call him a Man of Moeller. The Moeller Family grieves and continues to pray for the Currin family.
The Currin family also released a statement through Moeller:
Michael Currin passed away peacefully this morning. We ask for your prayers for his family and ask for privacy to grieve. Please channel your prayers from a miracle for Michael to a miracle that we don’t yet understand.

Dayton Police are currently investigating the incident and have reached out for the public’s assistance. The following statement was released Monday afternoon:
“Detectives from the Dayton Police Department Homicide Unit are joining the investigation into how a 19-year-old male was injured early Sunday morning. Michael Currin was found in the 3100 block of Wayne Avenue around 3:30 am with critical injuries under unknown circumstances.
We are very early in the investigation and detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit have been gathering evidence and conducting interviews since the incident occurred, they will now be joined by our homicide detectives.
We are asking anyone with information on how Mr. Currin may have been injured to call Detective Geiger at 937-333-4616 or if you have information and wish to remain anonymous, you can call Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP.”
