Nancy Rhoades Obituary, Death – Survived by
Nancy Rhoades Obituary – Nancy Rhoades passed away on Monday, January 10 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Nancy was born in Northampton on January 6, 1950, the daughter of the late Myron and Dorothy (Caldwell) Rhoades. She graduated from Northampton High School as a member of the Class of 1968. She was employed by the Daily Hampshire Gazette, retiring in 2013.
She enjoyed vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard with her family every summer. She also enjoyed spending time with Henry, who brought her so much joy. She was a locally famous baker and we are hoping you were lucky enough to have her chocolate creme, apple, or whoopie pies. She was also a world-renowned skilled knitter, and she kept her whole family warm.
Nancy is survived by her husband, David Fortier, who have been together for 50 years, daughter Alyson Fortier, grandson Henry Baker, brother John Rhoades and his wife Lisa, and mother-in-law Joanne Fortier, and brother-in-law Paul Carriveau, all of Northampton. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Meeting Nancy at the pearly gates will be her parents and her darling sister, Judith Carriveau.
Calling hours will be held at CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME on Sunday, January 16th from 1 pm to 4 pm, followed immediately by an in-house service. By order of the Northampton Board of Health, all guests must wear a mask.
