Nina Sue Irons Obituary, Death

Nina Sue (Shryock) Irons, 88, of Oldtown, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at her sister’s residence.
Born on January 23, 1934, Nina (known to all as Sue) was the daughter of the late Thomas Marvin Shryock and Carrie Elizabeth (Bishop) Shryock. She was also proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Milton Irons- the joy and love of her life. Her brother, Harry Shryock and Marie his wife; her sister, Pauline Boggs and Donald her husband; brothers-in-law, Earl Cooper, Floyd Johnson, and nephew Harry Thomas Shryock.

Having no children to call her own, she found her joy in dispensing her wisdom and knowledge on her nieces and nephews in a round-a-bout way. She found her comfort in the company of friends and neighbors, shopping and watching Jimmy Swaggart and old westerns on TV. In her earlier years, she was active and a lifetime member of the Oldtown Volunteer Fire Department.

She is survived by her sisters, Josephine Johnson, Cumberland, and Louise Cooper, Oldtown, with whom she resided for the past 4 years; numerous nieces and nephews; and the best companion ever, COOPER, her dog (known to many businesses in the tristate area).
We all travel this road called life and one day we will reach our destination. One thing we know, she has reached hers with God’s arms open wide to welcome her home.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at 1 pm with Pastor Michael Cooper officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Davis Memorial Cemetery.
