Vernon King Death – Officials have identified the victim who died after a fire at a Sidney house trapped him and another injured victim on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

A 59-year-old man Vernon King was identified as the victim of the fire. Immediately after the accident, Vernon was rushed to Wilson Health where he was pronounced dead, according to the police.

Investigator reports that the fire started around 1:10 pm. at the intersection of Park Street and Second Avenue. A Sidney police officer on scene reported the structure was fully engulfed in smoke and flames when they arrived on the scene, police scanner traffic indicates.

On the arrival of the firefighters, two people were already trapped inside the house, according to to Sidney Fire Chief Chad Hollinger, fortunately the trapped victim were rescued from the burning structure.

The other injured victim was transported from Wilson Health to a Dayton area hospital, firefighters said. In a release, firefighters said the occupant escaped by jumping from a second-story window to a bystander below. The other victim’s identity was not released.

The resident was said to belong to Vernon King. Firefighters said the loss of the residence and its contents is $90,000.
