Ray Sanchez, Sport Reporter Dies at 94

Ray Sanchez Death – A pillar of sports reporting and commentary in the Borderland, Ray Sanchez died Wednesday morning at the age of 94 surrounded by family in El Paso. Sanchez worked for the El Paso Herald Post beginning in 1950 and was there for several years. He also wrote columns for the El Paso Times and El Paso Inc. Sanchez wrote a book about legendary UTEP coach Don Haskins titled  “The Bear Facts”, which proved to be a best seller locally.

Sanchez was married to his wife Helen for 75 years this month and he had four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Rest in Peace Ray!
