Steven Wayne Burdulis Obituary – Retired Firefighter, Vietnam Veteran, 73 Steven W. Burdulis of Belleville, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph Burdulis and Delores M. (Barton) Keller. Steve was raised in Kearny, NJ, where he attended and graduated from Kearny High School in 1966. He was an outstanding football player and wrestler in school and was selected all-state in football and as a heavyweight wrestler selected as divisional champion in 1965 and 1966.

Thereafter he attended and played football at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Steve was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and the recipient of the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars. Upon completion of his service in Vietnam he attended and played football at Montclair State College. After college Steve served as a firefighter in Hackensack, NJ for several years then returned to Kearny to serve in the same capacity for the remainder of his career eventually retiring after 25 years. Steven was predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Dorothea, “Dottie”, (Becker)Burdulis.

He is survived by his two brothers and their wives, Paul and Elaine and Robert and Sandra Burdulis, his brother-in-law Victor Urbanovich, four nieces, Michele Collins, Lauren Regeimbal, Alison Wilson and Victoria Urbanovich, three nephews, David Burdulis, Robert and Stephen Urbanovich, along with three great-nieces and six great-nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley, NJ on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with a memorial service to be held at 4:30 PM.
