Tylor Collins obituary and funeral arrangement
Tylor Andrew Collins, 26, of Ottumwa, died July 2, 2020 as a result of injuries in a single car accident.
He was born August 24, 1993 in Ottumwa to John Raymond and Angela Suzanne Trowbridge Collins II.
Tylor was a 2012 graduate of Ottumwa High School. He was an Eagle Scout and while in high school, was a member of JROTC where he was the senior member of the color guard.
He had worked at Menards while in high school and had worked for American Home Finding Youth Shelter in Agency, as he had a passion for helping others. He served 8 years with the U.S. Army, including 6 years with the Iowa Army National Guard and 2 years active reserve. He earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Indian Hills Community College.
For the past 18 months Tylor was employed at Vermeer in Pella and he also farmed with his dad.
Tylor loved spending time outdoors and being with his family and friends.
Surviving are his parents, John and Angela Collins of Bloomfield; his twin sister, Alixandria (Clint) Foster of Oskaloosa; grandfathers, Del Trowbridge of Ottumwa and John (Diane) Collins of Drakesville; grandmother, Janice Dixon of Ringle, WI; uncles and aunts Bob (Melodie) Trowbridge of Brighton, Jamin Collins of UT, Jennifer (Paul) Krzmarcik of Ringle, WI; several cousins; two very special aunts, Emily Hoffman of Kirksville, MO and Stacy (Lonnie) Matheney of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Billie Trowbridge and a step-grandfather, Larry Dixon.
Limited open visitation for friends will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Reece Funeral Home. A time for friends to greet family at the funeral home will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rfh-ia.com.
All visitors are asked to adhere to the current guidelines on social distancing required by the Iowa Department of Health while attending visitation.
Private funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those not able to be inside the funeral home with the family during the service, you may watch the funeral from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.
Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pioneer Ridge Nature Area or Boy Scouts Troop #11.
