Dean Banks Death – Dean Banks has passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Banks had a stellar career on the airwaves and is best known as the former breakfast host of Melbourne radio station 3AW, reports Radio Today. The cause of Banks was made known to be a long-time battle with cancer.
Tom Malone, the Nine Radio’s managing director of the radio station paid tribute to Banks in a statement on Thursday. Tom explained the impact and character Banks portrays to people around him. “Dean was the ultimate gentleman and true professional, always helping those around him to do their best and not to dwell on mistakes which can happen to make live radio,” Malone said. “Dean taught many people the craft of radio and how to make it sound effortless,’ Malone continued. We all owe a lot to Dean and he will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Diana and extended family.”
Banks co-hosted the 3AW breakfast show with fellow radio veteran Ross Stevenson from 1990 to 2000. The program was called Lawyers, Guns, and Money from the onset before its name was changed. Banks had had a long career as a presenter at radio stations across Australia and New Zealand before he joined 3AW.
With sadness in his breaking voice, Ross Stevenson told listeners about Dean’s passing on the 3AW breakfast show this morning.
