David Touchet Death

David Touchet Death: Authorities responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 557 just south of LA Hwy 34 at about 8:10 p.m. Sunday, night. The crash led to the death of a 41-year-old, West Monroe man.

According to investigations, Stephen Snyder, 36, from West Monroe was moving south on LA Hwy 557 in a 2009 GMC Sierra when he suddenly struck David Touchet who was walking north in the south lane.

Touchet was fatally injured and succumbed to his injures at the scene of the accident. Snyder did not sustain injuries from the crash.

Authorities have urged pedestrians and motorists to remain vigilant while on area roadways and should proper attention to their surroundings. Motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians can frequently be avoided following some basic safety guidelines. Pedestrians are advised to wear light-colored or reflective clothing, always avoid walking on the roadway in dark areas. Pedestrians must also assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night.

The crash remains under investigation as the cause of the accident remains unknown.
