Weste Erickson Obituary, funeral arrangement

Weste Ross Erickson, 34, passed away at his home in Auburn on January 23, 2017.

Weste was born in Forks to Karen and Ron Erickson.

Weste spent his early life in Sekiu where his parents owned Pysht Pottery. Later, they moved to Arizona and then back to Port Angeles, where he graduated from high school.

He was an inquisitive youngster and would pick up any sort of bug for a thorough inspection. Weste climbed the tree next to his house at age 3 for a fascinating view of the entire bay from Sekiu to Slip Point. Weste was a Jamestown S’Klallam descendant. All his life Weste loved camping with family and friends. He had many gaming friends from Bellingham to Bellevue. He was an active member of Public School Employees Union, SEIU Local 1948.

Weste worked as the IT specialist at Tahoma Middle School and was lauded, loved and appreciated by students, staff and administrators for his expertise, wit, compassion and willingness to “go the extra mile.”

Weste is survived by his mother and stepfather, Karen and Scott Nangle; father Ron Erickson; younger brothers Lincoln (fiancée Katie Roszatycki) and Thomas Erickson; sister Emma Erickson (Rick Whaley); niece Avery Whaley; grandmothers June Bowlby and Jean Nangle; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his childhood friend from his Port Angeles days, James McCullogh and family of Bellingham.

A memorial celebration of Weste’s life was held at his mother and stepdad’s home in Maple Valley on Saturday, January 28.

Arrangements were by Cady Cremation Services, Kent, WA. An online guestbook is available.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tahoma Middle School, 24425 SE 216th St., Maple Valley, WA 98038 or West End Youth and Community Club Piano Fund, Box 21, Sekiu, WA 98381.
